About The Position

The Department of Anthropology in the College of Arts and Sciences at The Ohio State University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in archaeology. While research specialization is open, preference will be given to North American or Midwestern archaeologists who have experience and interest in directing a field school. Based in Columbus, Ohio, the position will begin in the fall of 2027. Preferred applicants will demonstrate the potential for a sustained and substantial body of empirical work.

Requirements

Ph.D. in Anthropology or a related field.
An ongoing or developing program of research.
Evidence of potential or experience in teaching both graduate and undergraduate courses.
Experience mentoring students at both levels.
Experience publishing in highly respected journals, edited volumes, and other strong outlets.
Experience applying for external research grants.
Experience providing service to the university, department, and discipline.
