Under the supervision of the Dean of STEM or designee, to teach introductory and intermediate classes in Information Technology Networking including the setup of information technology networks and emerging technologies. Responsible for preparing, conducting, and evaluating technical training programs for IT Networking. Writes literature and materials to be used in programs and hands-on designs exercises to enhance lectures. This position may instruct courses at multiple MATC campuses in either day and/or evening programs. Related duties include curriculum development, participation in departmental and campus activities, and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must have a Master's Degree in one of the following: Computer Science, Computer Science Education, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, IT Networking, Information Security.
  • Any Master's degree with 18 graduate credits in IT or closely related area such as: Computer Science, Computer Science Education, Information Science & Technology, Web Development, Engineering, Information Assurance, Business Administration, Computer Forensics or Cybersecurity.
  • Any Bachelor's Degree with seven (7) years (14,000 hours) of IT work and/or seven (7) of IT instructional experience.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years (4,000 hours) of work experience in the field of Information Technology.
  • At least one year of work experience must have occurred within the last five (5) years, OR Two years of teaching Information Technology course work at the post-secondary level within the last five years.

  • ITNET-159: AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
  • Must be able to communicate effectively through both oral and written means.
  • Must have knowledge of assessment of student academic achievement techniques.
  • Must meet Higher Learning Commission (HLC) standards (if applicable).
  • Must be able to relate successfully with students and staff of diverse cultural, social and educational backgrounds.
  • Teaching – Must embrace and demonstrate the Standards of Teaching Excellence in development and delivery of instruction.
  • Experience with an Email system (Outlook, Gmail...)
  • Experience with a voice mail system
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite/Google
  • Experience with Self-Service or other online information management systems used for student advising, student programs, grading, class schedules and rosters.
  • Experience with Blackboard or other web-based course - management systems.
  • Experience with technology-based instructional delivery systems including SMART symposium, interactive touch screen monitors, LCD projectors, DVD players and/or other classroom technology.
  • Experience with emerging technologies (e.g. social networking applications).

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge or experience with engaged and service learning strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities.
  • Manage the classroom/laboratory.
  • Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
  • Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
  • Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
  • Collaborate with advisory committee in program area.
  • Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
  • Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC.
  • Support student organizations and activities.
  • Develop relationships with business and industry.
  • Complete program evaluation and follow-up.
  • Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • The starting hourly wage for all part-time faculty is $40 per course hour of teaching.
  • Part-time faculty are also compensated for an additional 45 minutes of time for each hour of instruction to cover office hours and prep time which is equivalent to $70 per hour.
