Instructor, Interior Design (Non‑Tenure Track)
About The Position
The Department of Interior Design, Furnishings, and Fashion Design at High Point University is seeking a full-time, non-tenure-track Instructor of Interior Design. This position supports an innovative and rigorous Bachelor of Science in Interior Design program, which holds both NASAD and CIDA accreditation. The department also offers a minor in Visual Merchandising Design and has strong ties to the High Point Market. The department is committed to integrating creative practice with emerging technologies and seeks collaborative educators who share this vision. Facilities include a technology lab and an active makerspace within the Center for Innovation.
Requirements
- Terminal degree in interior design or a closely related field
- At least one academic degree in interior design or architecture
- Prior teaching experience at the college or university level
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative academic environment
Nice To Haves
- Master's degree in a relevant discipline
- Professional practice experience in interior design
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate studio and/or lecture courses in areas such as design communication, building systems, merchandising, and studio design
- Demonstrate proficiency in Revit and Adobe Creative Suite
- Contribute to departmental and university service
- Engage with the broader design community to support and elevate program visibility
- Participate in curriculum development, assessment, and innovative pedagogical initiatives
