About The Position

This is a full-time, year-round position for 47 weeks, working 22-30 hours per week. The role involves data assessment, college and career navigation, public outreach, and GED preparation. Responsibilities include enrolling students, administering tests, documenting progress, providing career counseling, assisting with college entrance, instructing on employability skills, implementing strategies for student success, collaborating with community partners for recruitment, referring students to wrap-around services, and providing instruction in Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, and Mathematics. The position requires travel within Heartland counties (Breckinridge, Grayson, Hardin, Hart, and LaRue) and working at least two evenings per month. Adult education instructors must possess a minimum bachelor's degree and pass the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE 13/14 A) with a NRS Level 6 in Reading and Mathematics.

Requirements

Minimum bachelor degree.
Pass the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE 13 /14 A) earning a NRS Level 6 in Reading and Mathematics.
Three years successful teaching experience at the level of an Instructor I.
Knowledge of basic instructional methods and techniques.
Knowledge of basic learning theory applicable to the group served.
Knowledge of students with special needs, multi-cultural and multi-ethnic backgrounds.
Knowledge of basic subjects taught in District schools including arithmetic, reading, writing, grammar and spelling.
Knowledge of correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.
Knowledge of classroom procedures and appropriate student conduct.
Knowledge of policies and objectives of assigned program and activities.
Knowledge of applicable sections of Kentucky Administrative Regulations and other applicable laws.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Ability to provide instruction working with children and parents with special needs, multi-cultural and multi-ethnic backgrounds.
Ability to monitor and evaluate students progress.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to maintain routine records.
Ability to read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Ability to maintain current knowledge of program rules, regulations, requirements and restrictions.
Ability to analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.
Ability to plan and organize work.

Responsibilities

Assist in the implementation of education programs by providing comprehensive assessments, evaluations, and instruction to meet the needs of parents and children including home visitation and instruction.
Provide leadership and assistance to support functions with a minimum of supervision.
Implement a comprehensive education program for eligible participants.
Provide instruction, counseling, appropriate learning materials and experiences for the participants and provide continuous evaluation of students progress and achievement.
Plan and implement parent and child interactions and activities.
Provide and arrange adult supports, activities and sessions.
Plan and implement a parent involvement program which includes home visitation as appropriate.
Promote program, interpret purpose of program to potential clients and interested persons in the community.
Maintain accurate records on the program and provide data to appropriate personnel.
Plan regularly with staff and participate in appropriate school meetings and activities.
Comply with policies, rules and regulations of the School District and State or federal regulatory agencies where appropriate.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Enrolling students, administering tests, and documenting student progress.
Providing career counseling, assisting with entrance into college, instructing students on employability skills, and implementing mitigation strategies to improve student success.
Collaborating with community partners to recruit students and refers to agencies providing wrap-around services.
Instruction in Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, and Mathematics in our learning centers and county detention centers.
