About The Position

Facility Management Corporation (FMC Ice Sports) operates public ice-skating arenas and ice-based programs across Massachusetts. FMC is seeking Lead Instructors to assist with or teach groups and lessons for its learn-to-skate and/or learn-to-play programs under the general supervision of each program’s Supervisor. The role involves working with children and adults, demonstrating proper skating techniques, and carrying out customer-experience duties. This is a part-time position. Most programs take place in the afternoons, evenings, and on weekends, though program dates and times may vary. Compensation depends on experience and industry-related qualifications. Training pay is $20–$30 per hour based on instructor level. After training, instructor-related work pays $22–$32 per hour; non-instructor-related work pays $17–$18 per hour. Offers are contingent on passing background checks, including CORI, SORI, and a National Criminal History Background check.

Requirements

Ability to ice skate proficiently.
Hockey players must have participated in multiple years of formal league play.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience assisting with or teaching skating classes is preferred.
Figure skaters should have passed ISI Freestyle 4 or USFS Freeskate 4 or higher.

Responsibilities

Use customer-service skills to manage customer interactions.
Educate the public about safe habits and practices for ice activities.
Accurately evaluate student placements for skating instruction.
Prepare and complete program documents, including attendance records and recommendations.
Enforce rink policies and operating procedures.
Carry out policies and procedures professionally and accurately.
Maintain a clean and safe environment for patrons and staff.
Complete tasks assigned by the Program Supervisor on time.
Attend scheduled staff meetings.
Perform other related or similar duties as assigned.
