About The Position

Teaches fused glass to students of all ages at the Brunswick Community College Southport Annex. The instructor is expected to be highly motivated, enthusiastic, and detail-oriented. Work includes maintaining the fused glass studio in connection with class use, including loading and unloading kilns, and instructing an average of 10 participants per session. The instructor must work well with others in shared studios. This is a BCC internal posting only.

Requirements

Strong portfolio in fused glass.
Experience teaching adults.
Current knowledge of studio safety.
Sufficient skill in fused glass craft to lead a class and resolve glass-making issues as they arise.

Nice To Haves

Associate's degree.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Working knowledge of related equipment and supplies.
Good hand and eye coordination.

Responsibilities

Create lesson plans.
Recruit students personally taught.
Provide project-based instruction.
Provide regular and constructive feedback to students.
Contact students regarding supplies, weather, and related matters.
Evaluate and document student performance using established methods, rubrics, and criteria.
Submit accurate time sheets, rosters, and attendance records.
Conduct routine inventories and requisition supplies.
Monitor proper use of equipment.
Check equipment for needed repairs.
Communicate by email with students and college administration.
Maintain the fused glass studio in connection with class use, including loading and unloading kilns.
Instruct an average of 10 participants per session.
Work well with others in shared studios.
