About The Position

Circuit Stream is seeking passionate Foundation of Medicine & Healthcare Instructors to teach medical fundamentals in their Foundations of Medicine & Healthcare courses for learners aged 13-18. In this course, students will explore the foundations of different medical occupations and learn how organs and systems work together to maintain balance. They will be exposed to industry-standard frameworks and theories to predict how body systems respond under different conditions. Through controlled simulations, students will analyze real-world medical cases, interpret symptoms, and develop initial treatment plans. The ideal instructor should have a nursing background (LPN, LVN, RN, APRN or NP) or be currently in medical school working towards an M.D., and should have some teaching, TA, or training experience. The course is offered three times this summer at the University of Washington Seattle campus, with a one-week training period at the end of June. Instructors must be available from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm PT.

Requirements

  • Availability to teach during the day (from 9am-3:30pm) in July and August 2026 (dates listed above)
  • Previous professional experience in health and patient care in a clinical environment
  • Nursing designation (LPN, LVN, RN, APRN or NP), OR current Medical School student working towards M.D., OR Faculty member of nursing or medical programs
  • Proficient at evaluating medical data and delivering recommendations for patient’s care
  • Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to convey complex concepts in an accessible and engaging manner
  • Innate logical thinking and the ability to inspire and nurture logical thinking in students
  • A passion for guiding and mentoring students, fostering their growth, and providing meaningful feedback
  • Willingness to adapt to evolving curriculum needs, industry trends, and emerging technologies
  • A collaborative attitude, eager to contribute to a positive and supportive team environment
  • A proactive attitude towards ongoing professional development and a willingness to learn and stay up-to-date with industry advancements

Responsibilities

  • Create lesson plans and lead engaging and comprehensive classroom sessions with teen learners following Circuit Stream's Foundations of Medicine & Healthcare course curriculum (curriculum and Instructor guides provided)
  • Provide constructive feedback, guidance, and mentorship to students as they ideate, develop, and iterate on their final project, a Medical Log Book
  • Showcase proficiency in making treatment recommendations based on symptoms and scenarios
  • Share real-world experiences, case studies, and insights to offer students a holistic understanding of the field
  • Grade assessments that accurately measure student understanding and progress within the course
