About The Position

CEWD Part-Time Instructor, Forklift Operator. Hourly rate to be determined based on discipline. This is a Part-Time Instructor Pool in our Continuing Education Workforce Development (CEWD) department for available assignments during the academic year. This position is limited to no more than 19 hours per week. Applications are considered throughout the academic year and reviewed based on departmental needs. Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent
A minimum of two (2) years of experience operating powered industrial trucks (forklifts)
Experience in a warehouse, distribution center or equivalent work experience
Basic computer proficiency using Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Basic proficiency in online tools such as Blackboard.
Sufficient knowledge, skills, and experience to instruct and assess students within their class.
Ability to assess the capabilities of students using approved criteria.
Familiarity with OSHA regulations regarding forklifts.
Self-motivated and able to perform autonomously.
Ability to proceed with independent actions with mutually established guidelines and minimal supervision from the CEWD Business Training Consultant.

Nice To Haves

Some Trade school, Forklift training, and/or 5 years of experience operating power industrial trucks.
Experience in instructing/examining the operation of forklifts.
Multiple classes of forklift experience (Class V Preferred).
Experience handling hazardous materials.
Bilingual - English/Spanish (Speak).

Responsibilities

Teach a variety of forklift courses and provide quality instruction in a safe environment to students in accordance with Alvin College (AC) policies and procedures.
Follow current course outlines and objectives.
Evaluate student competencies.
Maintain safety procedures within the class.
Constantly evaluate effectiveness in the classroom by helping students obtain course learning outcomes and the impact on student retention.
Follow all state and federal regulations while operating powered industrial trucks.
Instruct students on the basic controls and safe handling of powered industrial trucks.
Maintain issued equipment and property.
Instruct students on the basics of handling hazardous materials.
Adhere to Alvin Community College’s policies and procedures.
Attend institutional meetings as required.
Other duties as assigned.
