About The Position

The College of Southern Nevada (CSN) is seeking part-time Art instructors to teach ART 108: Fundamentals of Design II (3D) and ART 156: Design Fundamentals III within the Department of Fine Arts. These courses introduce students to the principles of three-dimensional design, including form, space, structure, and visual problem-solving. Instruction may include traditional and digital approaches to design, with an emphasis on computer-aided design and 3D printing as creative tools in contemporary artmaking. The ideal candidate will have experience creating artwork using digital design processes and 3D printing technologies. Courses may be offered in 8-16 week sessions, with class schedules ranging from 1-2 days per week and instruction provided at CSN campus locations throughout the Las Vegas Valley.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of teaching experience is preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Blender 3D.
  • Experience creating artwork, design projects, or prototypes using 3D modeling software and 3D printing technologies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary three-dimensional art and design practices.
  • Experience incorporating digital fabrication tools into creative projects.
  • Active studio, exhibition, design, or professional practice in art, design, sculpture, digital media, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned sections of ART 108: Fundamentals of Design II (3D) and/or ART 156: Design Fundamentals III.
  • Deliver instruction in the principles and elements of three-dimensional design, including form, space, composition, and visual organization.
  • Demonstrate the safe and effective use of 3D printers and related equipment as part of course instruction.
  • Guide students through the design, development, and fabrication of three-dimensional projects.
  • Evaluate student work and provide constructive feedback to support student growth and achievement.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled instructional meetings and professional development activities.
  • Complete and submit required instructional documentation and paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Be available to teach morning, afternoon, evening, and/or weekend courses based on scheduling needs.
  • Support student learning and engagement through effective instructional practices.
