About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy in the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) for the course Film History I. The compensation for the role is effective September 1, 2026, with a rate of $7,887.59 per half course (195 hours nominally) or $15,775.20 per full course (390 hours nominally). Instructors employed in a 2-hour/week lecture, or the equivalent, are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course.

Requirements

  • A PhD in Film Studies
  • Demonstrated expertise in the areas of film history and classical film theory/philosophy.
  • Demonstrated teaching competence at the University or College level
  • Expertise in online pedagogy and the use of learning management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Scheduled contact time with students
  • Non-classroom time including preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading, and course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty.
