About The Position

This position provides classroom instruction at designated work sites through lecture, demonstration, laboratory exercises, handouts, responding to questions, and testing. Employees within this class are supervised by CFCC but must also follow the rules, policies, and procedures of the partnering educational institution.

Requirements

Classroom and laboratory instructional techniques and procedures.
Principles and procedures of academic and instructional program development and administration in the area of assignment.
Current trends, research, and development in the area of assignment.
Principles and procedures of record keeping.
Principles and techniques involved in test development and administration.
Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
Interpret and apply college goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
Interpret and apply Federal, State, and local policies, procedures, laws, and regulations.
Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, reading and writing, communicating with others, operating assigned equipment, and handling varied tasks simultaneously.
Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include standing or sitting for extended periods of time, operating assigned equipment, and preparing and presenting instructional material.
Maintain mental capacity which allows the capability of making sound decisions, responding to questions, and demonstrating intellectual capabilities.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Nice To Haves

Education or Certification(s) or Industry experience Preferred
North Carolina Electrical License and/or Electrical Journeyman Card.
NCCER instructor training.
OSHA 10 Construction instructor training.
One or more years of experience in an instructional setting as a tutor or teacher is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide classroom and laboratory instruction to students.
Prepare lesson plans and schedule classroom activities; develop and prepare supplemental materials to enhance textbook lessons.
Develop and prepare tests to evaluate student performance; grade and record individual scores.
Act as an advisor and academic counselor to students as needed.
Provide classroom demonstrations on various equipment and machinery; develop laboratory assignments to provide hands-on experience as appropriate.
Participate in curriculum development, evaluation, and change; attend faculty meetings as required.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance; maintain other records and databases according to program needs and accreditation requirements.
Stay abreast of new developments and changes in various academic fields; participate in staff development programs, workshops, seminars, and other continuing education programs as appropriate.
Oversee the implementation of policies and procedures related to the required teaching area.
Participate on college committees and in other institutional activities and programs.
Assess the relevancy and impact of various lessons; revise and improve lesson format; evaluate various textbooks and select books to be used for future classes.
Demonstrate competence regarding the handling of hazardous substances such as bloodborne pathogens.
Ensure a safe learning environment by following and enforcing all classroom, laboratory, and equipment safety procedures.
Demonstrate community involvement.
Instruct Electrical Systems Technology classes.
Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
