About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy in the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) DART 3Y49 – Fall D6 (2nd half of term) Scenic Carpentry Study and application of carpentry in theatrical production. Format: Lectures, lab, 5 hours per week; additional production time as required. This course is a D6 course, which runs from November 2 to December 7, 2026. Labs: Monday 10:00 – 13:00, 14:00 – 16:00

Requirements

BA or equivalent professional experience in theatre, performance, or a relevant, related discipline.
Significant professional contributions to scenic carpentry for theatre, performance, or a relevant, related discipline.
Successful, relevant, theoretically-informed post-secondary teaching experience. Evidence of teaching effectiveness will ideally consist of a complete teaching dossier. Previous course evaluations, peer teaching evaluations, teaching letters of recommendation, or equivalent objective, systematically collected evidence will also be considered.
Expertise in anti-oppressive, decolonizing, anti-racist, anti-supremacist, or related approaches to theatre making, theatre pedagogy, and/or theatrical practices. Evidence of expertise will ideally demonstrate how these principles are integrated into the applicant’s post-secondary teaching. Expertise may include, for example, scholarly presentations or publications, development of professional practices, academic or professional leadership, consulting work, or professional development or training.
Demonstrated ability to use the BRIGHTSPACE online learning management system, the BrockDB online portal, the OASIS system for managing student accommodations, or equivalent systems in other institutions.

Responsibilities

Scheduled contact time with students
Non-classroom time including preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading, and course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty.
