About The Position

This role involves providing student instruction in assigned Computer Information Technology program courses. The instructor will be responsible for developing and delivering engaging lessons, building curriculum, and operating relevant technology. A key aspect of the role is to stay current with industry trends and collaborate on updating existing courses and developing new ones. The instructor will also maintain and upgrade computer equipment, manage student records according to guidelines, and promote the use of various college software and platforms. Additionally, the position requires maintaining technical competency through professional development, participating in campus activities, and serving as an academic advisor to students. The role also includes developing an individualized development plan, completing annual safety training, and performing other assigned campus and program duties. Promoting a culture of belonging and supporting the college's policies on access and equal opportunities are also essential functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Technology, a related field, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Provide student instruction in assigned program courses.
  • Develop and deliver engaging lessons.
  • Build curriculum, including lesson plans, assignments, and tests.
  • Operate all appropriate audio-visual and multimedia equipment and software.
  • Create and develop teaching aids and supplements.
  • Enhance engaged learning through the College’s current visual/audio equipment and program applications.
  • Keep up to date with current trends that reflect methods used in the Computer Information Technology industry.
  • Collaborate with others to add, develop, and/or implement changes in current courses.
  • Develop courses that include writing course objectives, syllabi, handouts, and tests, and researching textbooks, online resources, and data for course use.
  • Ensure classrooms, computer lab(s), and online equipment are suitable for engaged learning and are in working order.
  • Follow state and federal guidelines for student records.
  • Maintain permanent student records: grade books, attendance, and student achievement for all courses taught.
  • Use and promote the online instructional learning management software (LMS), Self-Service, OFFICE 365, and the HUB.
  • Provide recommendations for capital equipment purchases of instructional supplies and equipment.
  • Attend seminars, professional association meetings, conferences, educational workshops, or other related training sessions to stay technically competent.
  • Participate in college activities related to professional development, diversity, and safety.
  • Actively engage in and support Program activities (advisory team meetings, open house, division meetings, etc.) and College activities and teams as requested.
  • Mentor, support, and advise students on academic standing, progress, and the academic map.
  • Explain College policies and procedures to students.
  • Develop an individualized development plan in cooperation with the Associate Dean.
  • Compile (3) different professional development activities during the year.
  • Complete all annual Safety Training as required by the College.
  • Substitute teach as required.
  • Assist in budget development.
  • Advise co-program directors as requested.
  • Support and promote the College, the campus, and the Computer Information Technology program.
  • Support student recruitment.
  • Assist in the security of all College and program facilities, instruments, tools, materials, and equipment.
  • Assist in supervising student help.
  • Participate in determining and updating the Strategic Plan and completion of the annual Assessment process.
  • Teach evening Continuing Education or off-campus Computer Information Technology classes or customized training classes.
  • Support and promote an environment of belonging where all students, faculty members, and college employees feel welcomed, valued, and empowered to contribute.
  • Foster a community where each individual and their varied perspectives enrich the educational experience and create a safe and respectful environment.
  • Support the College’s policies and programming related to access, fair employment, and equal opportunities for all.
