About The Position

This is a part-time, temporary/seasonal position. The work site is the Northern Nevada Correctional Center. The instructor will teach assigned courses and be available to students during the contract period. Responsibilities include preparing course syllabi, course outlines, and instructional materials, maintaining student records (attendance and grades), administering student evaluations, participating in orientation and faculty meetings, completing required NDOC paperwork and training, participating in student retention activities, and promoting college educational programs and services.

Requirements

• Associate degree or equivalent from a regionally accredited institution of higher education in Automotive Technology or professionally related area, OR a combination of education and professional experience.
• One year of mechanic experience in automotive or related field.
• Ability to pass the Nevada Department of Corrections background check.

Nice To Haves

• Automotive Service Excellence professional level certifications or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
• Experience teaching in a community college setting.
• Experience working in a carceral setting.
• Ability to work with diverse student populations, including those who are incarcerated.
