About The Position

This is a part-time, temporary/seasonal position. The work site is the Northern Nevada Correctional Center.

Requirements

• Associate degree or equivalent from a regionally accredited institution of higher education in Automotive Technology or professionally related area. Or a combination of education and professional experience.
• One year of mechanic experience in automotive or related field.
• Ability to pass the Nevada Department of Corrections background check.

Nice To Haves

• Automotive Service Excellence professional level certifications or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
• Experience teaching in a community college setting.
• Experience working in a carceral setting.
• Ability to work with diverse student populations, including those who are incarcerated.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned courses and be available to students during the contract period.
• Prepare course syllabi, course outlines (if necessary) and related instructional materials.
• Maintain student records, including attendance and grades.
• Administer student evaluations.
• Participate in orientation and faculty meetings as requested.
• Complete all required NDOC paperwork and training as necessary.
• Participate in student retention activities as requested.
• Promote college educational programs and services to the communities served by WNC.
