About The Position

The department of Teaching and Learning at Minnesota State University, Mankato invites applications for a fixed-term, Instructor/Assistant Professor beginning August 17, 2026. This position requires teaching to support the undergraduate programs in the teaching of reading coursework in the Elementary Education and Kindergarten and Secondary Programs. The role involves active engagement in scholarship, continuing preparation, and services to the University, community, and discipline. A typical faculty workload may include up to twenty-four (24) credits of instruction per academic year. The successful candidate may teach in other assigned and qualified areas, and is expected to develop and deliver face-to-face, hybrid, and online instruction at the Mankato campus, online, and/or at the university’s additional locations. Responsibilities also include collaborating with colleagues in curriculum design, instruction, and evaluation, conducting research and mentoring students, creating innovative strategies for student recruitment, retention, and completion, and potentially developing external grant funding opportunities. All faculty members are expected to engage in scholarly or creative activity or research, continuing preparation and study, contributing to student growth and development, and providing service to the university and community.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from a wide range of diverse backgrounds and to foster a professional environment that is inclusive, respectful, and equitable for all
  • Master’s degree in education or closely related field
  • Minimum three years teaching experience as instructor of record in K-12 schools, with at least one year as a teacher of reading or communication arts and literature in a 7-12th grade classroom
