About The Position

As embedded professional developers, the overall goal of the ITRT program is to assist teachers with the planning and integration of technology in academic settings, train teachers to use technology in an effective manner, and assist with curriculum development as it relates to educational technology. To perform this position successfully, it is necessary to collaborate with Technology and Instruction Department staff as well as school administration. The ITRT is responsible for modeling or co-teaching instructional strategies, providing training and professional development to staff, supporting curriculum, and performing similar kinds of duties and responsibilities as the School Division/Building Administrator deems appropriate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an applicable field of education or the equivalent in credentialing, training and/or experience
  • Evidence of instructional technology coursework
  • A minimum of 3 years of successful classroom experience
  • Possess or qualify for a professional license and appropriate endorsement as presented by the Virginia Department of Education
  • Be recommended by the Division Superintendent and approved by the School Board
  • Knowledge of school curriculum and framework, policies and effective instructional practices.
  • Knowledge of the teaching and learning process.
  • Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education.
  • Ability to infuse technology into curriculum.
  • Ability to respect confidential information and the individual’s right to privacy.
  • Ability to communicate openly and effectively with students, colleagues, administration, parents, central office, and community patrons.
  • Qualities necessary to work effectively with administration, teachers, students, and parents.
  • Ability to model professional, moral, and ethical standards as well as personal integrity in all interactions within the school and within the community.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology preferred
  • Experience training teachers or other adults in the integration of technology preferred

Responsibilities

  • Working collaboratively with individual teachers or groups of teachers to integrate technology into instruction
  • Conduct county-wide instructional technology training, including participants in large-scale county initiatives such as Internet safety and digital citizenship lessons
  • Provide use and integration workshops on new and existing digital technologies
  • Provide school-based training and assistance in the integration of technology to instructional staff during and outside the school day
  • Assisting with curriculum and content development by outlining technology supports and integrations
  • Disseminating information regarding technology resources, emerging technologies, best practices using technology, and professional development opportunities
  • Assessing levels of teacher and student technology use and skills to better address needs
  • Modeling effective instructional strategies using technology
  • Serving as a member of school or division technology committees
  • Supporting implementation of the division and state technology plan
  • Using data in support of hardware and software adoptions at the school and division levels
  • Creating learning resources for teachers, staff, and students
  • Assisting in the implementation of STEM activities through school-based roles or committee assignments
  • Implementing school-based lessons for students related to Digital Citizenship, Internet Safety, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cyberbullying, and emerging technology tools and applications
  • Assisting with online testing as directed by school administration
  • Review and approve (with ITRT group) applications, software, or services for compliance (FERPA & COPPA) and active Digital Privacy agreements
  • Assist Technology Department with school-based technology issues to include first-line response to issues associated with teacher and student devices (to include assistance in the management of 1:1 devices)
  • Assist special education staff with assistive technologies where present
  • Support and train teachers on software as it relates to attendance, grading, instructional delivery, professional development, and assessment, including benchmark assessments, unit assessments, and locally developed performance assessments
  • Collaborate with the principal to maintain the school’s web page and social media presence
  • Perform other duties within the scope of employment and certification as assigned by other division administrative personnel and supervising principal
