About The Position

The Instructional Technology Coach (ITC) provides training and assistance to ensure colleagues are utilizing educational technology to create authentic, student-centered learning experiences. The focus is not on the tool itself, but rather on skill development and content acquisition. The main responsibility for the Instructional Technology Coach is planning and conducting professional learning opportunities that move teachers forward in their professional growth and in their purposeful integration of technology. An ITC is an education specialist on site to work in collaboration with teachers and staff and to be an extension of district instructional technology initiatives.

Requirements

  • Holds a valid Virginia teaching license.
  • Possesses an in-depth knowledge of instructional technologies, instructional delivery, curriculum development, and data analysis.
  • Demonstrates ability to develop and implement training for adult learners and lead educational projects.
  • Possesses an electronic portfolio that demonstrates standards-based instruction and achievement that is inclusive of technology.
  • Demonstrates problem-solving capabilities to ensure instruction is supported by specific technologies that would raise student achievement.
  • Possess a valid Virginia driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Model the seven International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Standards for Educators consistently in their work with site based and division colleagues.
  • Continually improve practice to leverage technology to enhance student outcomes.
  • Serve as a leader in the teaching and learning cycle to nurture student agency.
  • Encourage students to participate responsibly in the digital landscape.
  • Collaborate with learners and colleagues to curate resources and solve problems.
  • Design learning activities that are student-centered and honor learner variability.
  • Facilitate student use of technology to promote student selection of appropriate tools.
  • Use data to drive instructional decisions and integration of technology.
  • Establish trusting and respectful coaching relationships that encourage educators to explore new instructional strategies.
  • Facilitate equitable use of digital learning tools and content that meet the needs of each learner.
  • Actively participate in professional learning networks to enhance coaching practice and keep current with emerging technology and innovations in pedagogy and the learning sciences.
  • Collaborate with educators to develop authentic, active learning experiences that foster student agency, deepen content mastery and allow students to demonstrate their competency.
  • Build the capacity of educators, leaders and instructional teams to put the ISTE Standards into practice by facilitating active learning and providing meaningful feedback.
  • Evaluate the impact of professional learning and continually make improvements in order to meet the schoolwide vision for using technology for high-impact teaching and learning.
  • Support educators to interpret qualitative and quantitative data to inform their decisions and support individual student learning.
  • Coaches model digital citizenship and support educators and students in recognizing the responsibilities and opportunities inherent in living in a digital world.
  • Serves on school leadership teams and attends scheduled meetings at each school as requested.
  • Plans and conducts timely, data driven professional learning opportunities for school staff.
  • Collaborates with building administrators to satisfy site specific instructional technology goals.
  • Attends scheduled ITC meetings and communicates effectively with school based and division level staff.
  • Provides support for district initiatives, software/hardware purchases, with the focus to support the division strategic plan as a member of the instructional team.
  • Creates and maintains a current schedule that will be made available to the Director of Recruitment and Retention and the administrators in the building(s) the ITC serves.
  • Distribution, upkeep, training, and management of devices.
  • Assisting, training, and modeling instructional technology with teachers and students, researching best practices, evaluating tech tools.
  • Planning with site administrator and division instructional personnel to make data driven decisions regarding technology use in curriculum and instruction.
  • Communication and record keeping.
  • Minor troubleshooting of technical concerns.
  • Conduct personal professional learning to remain abreast of current instructional trends and practices.
