The Instructional Technologist supports teaching and learning excellence across the college by assisting faculty and staff in the effective use of instructional technologies, digital learning tools, and the learning management system. This position provides training, technical support, and consultation related to course technologies and instructional innovation. The Instructional Technologist works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administrators to improve student engagement, course accessibility, and instructional effectiveness across all delivery modalities. This position reports to the Executive Director of the Center for Organizational Excellence. This position may have occasional travel between campuses and for training. Occasional after hours may be required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in instructional technology, education, instructional design, or a related field.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience supporting instructional technologies, learning management systems, or technology adoption in an educational or training environment.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience designing and delivering training, workshops, or technical support for end users.
  • Experience with Google Workspace.
  • Demonstrated experience providing customer/client support.
  • Experience using and implementing learning management systems, multimedia tools, and other educational technologies to support teaching and learning.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in instructional technology, instructional design, education, or a related field.
  • Experience with Canvas.
  • Experience with BibliU or similar platform.
  • AI Certification (Gemini, Copilot, etc.).
  • Experience supporting faculty in higher education.
  • Experience with online course quality standards (Quality Matters, ACUE, OLC, OSCQR, etc.).
  • Experience with multimedia tools and educational technology integration.

Responsibilities

  • Support faculty and staff in the use of the college’s learning management system and instructional technologies.
  • Assist in the implementation, maintenance, and support of the college’s transition to Canvas.
  • Provide training and consultation on instructional technologies, digital tools, and effective teaching practices.
  • Develop and maintain instructional materials, documentation, tutorials, and knowledge base resources.
  • Troubleshoot instructional technology issues, including classroom equipment, and coordinate solutions with internal stakeholders and vendors as needed.
  • Assist faculty in integrating technology tools that improve student engagement, accessibility, and learning outcomes.
  • Collaborate with faculty and the instructional designer to support course design and delivery across face-to-face, blended (up to 50% online), hybrid (over 50% online), and online formats (both synchronous and asynchronous).
  • Support accessibility initiatives and promote compliance with ADA requirements, Sections 504 and 508, and WCAG standards.
  • Evaluate emerging instructional technologies and recommend solutions that align with institutional goals.
  • Assist in testing, evaluating, and implementing instructional technology integrations.
  • Support faculty development initiatives related to instructional technologies and digital pedagogy.
  • Maintain records of training, support requests, and project activities.
  • Participate in college committees and professional development activities.
  • Complete annual required staff development.
  • Encourage and support college activities, policies, procedures, and philosophies.
  • Assume other duties as assigned.
