About The Position

The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is accepting applications for an Instructional Designer and Technologist in the office of CEITL & DE. This role reports directly to the Director of the Center for Teaching, Learning and Technology. The successful candidate will be required to utilize best design and multimedia principles to create online courses. In addition, they will be responsible for assisting in the development, configuration, and implementation of the college’s Learning Course Management System (Canvas, etc.), troubleshooting problems, and coordinating upgrades with the appropriate LCMS Administrator. This position also serves as an LCMS subject matter expert.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in instructional technology and/or online education
  • Experience using Canvas or other Learning/Content Management Systems
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Detailed oriented, able to multi-task, and able to work under pressure
  • Proficient with Windows, MS Office and other multimedia technology
  • Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds
  • Some weekend and evening work required

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the development, configuration, and implementation of the college’s Learning Course Management System (Canvas, etc).
  • Troubleshoots problems and coordinates upgrades with the appropriate LCMS Administrator.
  • Serves as LCMS subject matter expert.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to create high-quality, interactive online courses.
  • Plans, develops, and implements new instructional and technical tools, including AI-enhanced instructional technologies.
  • Supports the ongoing assessment of instructional effectiveness for existing and future online programs and courses.
  • Works closely with faculty and staff to train them on new technologies, including AI tools and applications, as well as basic computer applications (Microsoft Office, Excel, etc.).
  • Develops, coordinates, and instructs online orientation and training sessions for students, faculty, and staff, including coordination with Academic Orientation.
  • Creates and maintains training and support materials, ensuring they remain current and are effectively publicized to the campus community.
