About The Position

The Instructional Designer collaborates with faculty and Learning Design & Development (LD&D) team members to design, develop, and continuously improve learner-centered educational experiences across online, hybrid, and face-to-face modalities. Applies learning experience design (LXD), instructional design best practices, AI-assisted tools, and learning analytics to ensure high-quality, accessible, and outcomes-driven courses aligned with SoPA workflows, QA standards, and term readiness processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or related field.
  • 2 years of experience supporting online or blended course development and LMS platforms (Canvas preferred).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in higher education instructional design
  • Experience with authoring tools (Articulate, Captivate, etc.)
  • Familiarity with AI tools for learning design
  • Experience supporting faculty training or development programs
  • Experience aligning instructional materials and assessments with course and program learning outcomes

Responsibilities

  • Instructional design models (ADDIE, backward design)
  • Learning experience design and learner-centered practices
  • LMS and educational technologies (Canvas, Zoom, etc.)
  • Multimedia and digital content development
  • Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles and standards
  • Accessibility standards (WCAG)
  • Data-informed decision making and learning analytics
  • Collaboration and project management skills
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent course development projects and meet term-based production timelines in a collaborative academic environment
