About The Position

The Instructional Systems Administrator (ISA) supports the mission of Berkley School of Nursing (BSON) by ensuring the effective operation, integration, and optimization of instructional and educational technologies across the nursing school. Guided by Jesuit values and the principle of cura personalis—care for the whole person—the ISA works to enhance learning, foster equity, and advance innovation in teaching and technology. This position serves as the primary administrator for learning management and instructional systems, providing leadership, technical support, and collaboration that align with BSON’s commitment to preparing nurse leaders who are skilled, compassionate, and socially responsible. This position reports directly to BSON’s Vice Dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, educational technology, instructional design, or a related field required.
  • Proficiency in LMS administration and interoperability of instructional platforms.
  • Working knowledge of simulation and assessment systems used in nursing education.
  • Understanding of accessibility standards (ADA, WCAG), FERPA, and data management principles.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Canvas Admin, PMP, ITIL, Quality Matters) desirable.
  • 3–5 years of experience in instructional systems administration or educational technology, preferably in higher education.
  • Experience supporting faculty and managing systems in nursing or health professions education preferred.
  • Familiarity with accreditation, data reporting, and compliance standards in academic settings.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary administrative liaison for the Learning Management System (e.g., Canvas) and related instructional platforms.
  • Oversee system integrations for simulation, clinical tracking, and assessment software (e.g., SimCapture, Typhon, ATI, HESI).
  • Ensure compliance with FERPA, data security, and accreditation documentation requirements.
  • Coordinate with University IT to maintain system reliability, perform updates, and manage data integrity.
  • Support faculty in leveraging instructional technologies consistent with Ignatian pedagogical principles—context, experience, reflection, action, and evaluation.
  • Provide training, consultation, and instructional design support for in-person, hybrid, and online courses.
  • Promote inclusive, accessible, and engaging digital learning environments aligned with BSONs mission and values.
  • Maintain data systems for student performance, simulation tracking, and program outcomes.
  • Contribute to academic assessment processes that reflect Jesuit educational values and nursing standards.
  • Evaluate, implement, and sustain emerging technologies that enhance teaching and learning and clinical simulation.
  • Participate in digital learning initiatives and represent BSON on relevant university committees.
  • Ensure technology supports human connection, ethical reasoning, and reflection in professional formation.
  • Act as a liaison among faculty, staff, students, vendors, and IT professionals to ensure cohesive technology practices.
  • Communicate system updates, maintenance schedules, and training opportunities effectively.
  • Model BSON's values of service, respect, and community in all interactions.
