About The Position

Instructional Support personnel function as a teacher’s aide, substitute teachers, and other educational and instructional support as needed to accomplish educational goals. This role involves working with identified students, executing lessons planned by the classroom teacher, reporting concerns, preparing substitute plans, providing supplemental activities, and serving as a role model for students. Instructional Support Specialists are expected to follow PBIS procedures for handling minor classroom behaviors, supervise students, and enforce administration policies and rules. They may also be required to substitute in classrooms when needed. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 60 college credits/Associate degree and/or the required credentials under NCLB.
  • Valid substitute permit.

Responsibilities

  • Working with identified students.
  • Executing lessons already planned by the classroom teacher.
  • Reporting to the classroom teacher any concerns that may arise (academic or behavior) that are noticed.
  • Preparing for the day in case of absence (sub plans).
  • Providing supplemental activities to use with groups as time provides.
  • Being a role model for the students and teaching leadership attributes.
  • Following PBIS procedures for handling minor classroom behaviors.
  • Supervising students in the classroom, hallways, cafeterias, etc.
  • Enforcing administration policies and rules governing students.
  • Subbing in classrooms when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
