About The Position

The Instructional Support Specialist (ISS) role at Devereux Brandywine School in West Chester, PA, is designed for individuals who enjoy impacting children and adolescents in a classroom setting and seek a collaborative environment. This position supports teachers by assisting with the academic, social, and behavioral needs of assigned clients. The ISS will help implement basic educational programming and perform duties as directed by administrators or teachers, including individual tutoring or one-on-one support for students with special needs. The role emphasizes ensuring the health and safety of youth, supporting Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) goals, and reinforcing teacher and administration directives while reporting daily progress.

Requirements

High School Diploma required.
Associates Degree or completion of two years of post-secondary education from an accredited college or university preferred.
Previous experience working in a special education or behavioral healthcare setting with students with severe/complex behavioral/emotional issues preferred.

Responsibilities

Ensuring the health and safety of youth in the school
