About The Position

This position will support teacher's direction by providing assistance with academic, social, and behavioral needs of assigned clients. You will assist in the implementation of a basic educational programming and performing duties as directed by the building administrator or classroom teacher inclusive of individual tutoring or one-on-one support for a student with special needs. Devereux Day Academy is a private academic school program located in Norristown, PA. Devereux Day Academy is licensed to serve students in grades K-8 who have been identified with the following primary disabilities: Intellectual Disability, Autism, Emotional Disturbance, Specific Learning Disability, and Speech or Language Impairment. The core curriculum has been aligned with the Pennsylvania Core Standards, as well as the curricula of our partner school districts. This alignment will facilitate smooth transitions to and from the program for your students. The goal of the curriculum is to provide students with learning experiences that foster increased engagement and success through differentiated instruction, evidence-based instructional strategies, and rigorous learning expectations.

Requirements

• High School Diploma required.
• Devereux has a zero-tolerance policy for abuse and maintains policies and procedures to systematically reduce the risk of abuse to occur in our organization.
• Devereux fosters a culture of reporting abuse, and will cooperate with the authorities to the fullest extent possible.

Nice To Haves

• Associates Degree or completion of two years of post-secondary education from an accredited college or university preferred.
• Previous experience working in a special education or behavioral healthcare setting with students with severe/complex behavioral/emotional issues preferred.

• Ensure the health and safety of youth in our Audubon, PA private school
• Provide assistance with academic, social and behavioral needs.
• Support the teacher and administration's direction while supporting youth and reporting progress daily.
• Support and reinforce PBIS goals and objectives
