About The Position

The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry is seeking Instructional Student Assistant (ISA) applicants for its Chemistry and Biochemistry programs. The department is seeking qualified students for grading, proctoring, supplemental instructions session and/or lab/activity support/department tours as Instructional Student Assistant for courses that are appropriate in our curriculum in any given semester. Students need to apply each semester. Faculty recommendations are welcomed. This position is open until it is filled. If you have applied and no other positions are available, you will be notified. Hours: 0-20 hours per week. Job Duties may include the following, but will be dependent upon the specific course to which the instructional student assistant will be assigned, as well as upon the specific needs of the faculty member in charge of the course: Provide instructional support to assigned instructors by grading papers in a variety of courses or facilitating discussions. Assist the instructor in lab/activity sessions/tours, and/or perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair in consultation with the appropriate faculty member(s). Perform supplemental instructions sessions for academic support.

Requirements

  • Minimum GPA 3.0
  • Must have completed courses with a B or higher in which opening exists.

  • Students must have demonstrated significant subject expertise. This expertise may be confirmed by faculty recommendation, successful completion of chemistry and biochemistry courses, and/or demonstrated success in related courses
  • Applicants will be required to disclose whether they have received a final administrative decision or final judicial decision determining that they have committed sexual harassment within the last seven years, only after a determination is made that they meet the minimum qualifications for the position, and before an offer of employment is extended.

Benefits

  • Salary range starts at $17.86 per an hour.
