Under supervision, Instructional Student Assistants (ISAs) in this classification perform teaching, grading and/or tutoring duties for the majority of work hours in a given appointment in a given academic department or equivalent administrative unit over the course of an academic term. The work may be performed on-campus or at an off-campus public agency or private non-profit organization under an agreement with a campus in the CSU system. Students applying for ISA positions must be admitted or registered as a CSU student. Academic Student Employees may not concurrently hold a faculty or staff position. Students with assignments in more than one student classification (i.e., Teaching Associate, Graduate Assistant, and Student Assistant) are restricted to working a maximum of 20 hours per week during the academic year and up to full-time during academic break periods. The 20 hour per week maximum includes hours worked in all positions. Instructional Student Assistants (ISAs) assignments in Economics may include: ECON 104, 305, 306W, 308, 309, 310, 311, 323, 423, 435, 450, and 470S, or another lower or upper division course as determined by the department. Supplemental Instruction (SI) Leaders will run the Supplemental Instruction course ECON 310L) which is designed to help students succeed in ECON 310. A faculty liaison will provide materials and support. Examples of duties for SI Leaders are listed below: 50% (approximately 2 hours per week) will be in class leading ECON 310L - Run experiments, show videos, coordinate cooperative learning exercises, help students with problem sets, explain difficult concepts to the class, take attendance, etc. 50% (approximately 2 hours per week) will be used for class preparation - Uploading materials to Canvas, reviewing materials provided by faculty liaison, meeting with faculty liaison, etc.
