About The Position

CSUB Athletics Academic Support is looking for dynamic, enthusiastic, instructional student assistant learning specialists who have a passion for teaching, mentoring, and leading. CSUB Athletics ISA-LS's will work with our Scholar-Athletes during required, scheduled, 1-on-1 supplemental instruction in all subjects, but with a concentration on Lower-Division General Education courses. Learning Specialists differentiate from traditional ISA's in that they are responsible for providing a holistic approach to scholar-athlete learning that not only facilitates content understanding, but also motivation, time management, communication skills, study skills, initiative, & integrity. While subject expertise is a plus, it is not a requirement as the Learning Specialist's main goal is Teaching Students how to Learn.

Requirements

Must be a CSUB student (currently enrolled at least 1/2 time).
Must have skills and abilities to perform job functions.
Must have a 3.25 cumulative GPA or above.
Must be classified as a Junior or higher.
Must have initiative, integrity, empathy, patience, and creativity.
Must have a passion for and experience with diverse groups including but not limited to racial and ethnic minorities, International students, English language Learners, LGBTQ populations, first-generation college students, and students with disabilities.
Must be willing to comply with CSUB's Academic Integrity Requirements and all NCAA Staff Regulations.
Must be able to work 20 hours per week.
Tutoring or Teaching Experience Required.
U.S. Work Authorization or F-1 Visa status
