About The Position

The Board of Trustees of the Panama-Buena Vista Union School District invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Instructional Specialist. The Instructional Specialist will provide leadership, staff development and training for instructional and support personnel related to district curriculum, classroom instruction, and District initiatives. The Instructional Specialist will support professional development, instructional infrastructure, multi-tiered systems of instruction/intervention, assessment, instructional technology, student events, and District-wide curriculum activities. Special areas of focus may include support of new teacher activities, professional development, extended learning programs, preschool programs, and academic intervention.

Requirements

  • Valid California teaching credential
  • At least three-five years of educational experience as a classroom teacher.
  • Master's Degree required from accredited university in education related field.

  • $2,500/year stipend for a Doctorate Degree
  • Longevity of $1,500 after 15 years of qualified District service and $3,500 after 20 years of qualified District service.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to school sites in the area of staff development activities and resources, including appropriate implementation of standards, District curriculum assessments, data analysis, teaching strategies, and new teacher support.
  • Assist in development of effective, appropriate programs and coordination of resources for students in special and general education program settings.
  • Coordinate the selection and development of all instructional materials, digital resources, and implementation of District curriculum.
  • Coordinates assessment strategies and systems to provide any needed services or support for students.
  • Monitors all District benchmarks for success and prepares/conveys performance results as needed.
  • Supports implementation of all District plans, including the District plan for English learners.
  • Assist in the development and coordination of district sponsored student events.
  • Serve as a professional development trainer or facilitator of training sessions.
  • Assist in scheduling, preparation of materials, and set up of facilities.
  • Be available to provide support for training sessions that may be held in the evening or on weekends.
  • Support and monitor assigned programs to ensure compliance with Federal, State and District policies and intended outcomes, including implementation and monitoring of time accounting and semi-annual certification of federally funded programs.
  • Assists school sites with the coordination of School Site Councils (SSCs) and SSC elections, rosters, and files, including support with supplementary training and guidance.
  • Participate in developing and monitoring budgets for assigned programs and projects.
  • Consults and assists school sites in the development of the Title 1 school site parent involvement requirements and compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
