About The Position

This position is for an Instructional Specialist within the School of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Pathobiological Sciences. The role involves supporting faculty and students in learning technologies, instructional materials, and lab maintenance. The specialist will assist with the design and development of learning experiences, provide technical support, and manage lab resources.

Requirements

  • Certified Veterinary Technician or Bachelor's Degree in Biological/Animal Sciences required.
  • Associate Degree (Certified Veterinary Technician) or Bachelor's Degree in Biological/Animal Science required.

  • Laboratory experience including work with bacterial cultures, animal patient samples, preserved animal tissues, fresh cadavers, microscopes and other laboratory equipment

Responsibilities

  • Completes initial edits, reviews, and updates of existing instructional materials (15%)
  • Analyzes, tests, troubleshoots, resolves issues, and provides feedback regarding learning technologies (5%)
  • Provides support for faculty development and engagement programs and activities (5%)
  • Provides consultation, training, and/or support for learning technology tools and platforms (10%)
  • Assists with the design and development of multimedia learning materials (0%)
  • Assists with providing basic training and technical support to learners in settings such as classrooms, labs, clinics, and distance learning mediums (10%)
  • Provides support for collecting, organizing, interpreting, and disseminating data to identify instructional program needs and enhance effectiveness (5%)
  • Classroom microscope maintenance and care (5%)
  • Maintain lab spaces at both the School of Veterinary Medicine and offsite facilities, including ensuring that supplies and spaces are in date, inventoried, and clean (5%)
  • Contributes to researching, designing, and/or acquiring learning resources, technologies, materials, and/or processes to support learning (15%)
  • Assists with the design and development of engaging, effective learning experiences which may be face-to-face, blended, and/or online (20%)
  • Assist in inventory, procurement, management and disposal of fixed and fresh samples for student labs and active learning sessions. (May include cadavers, body tissues, and specimens such as animal feces, parasites, bacteria, fungi, blood, urine) (5%)
