About The Position

The Instructional Specialist role is responsible for various tasks related to instructional materials, learning technologies, faculty development, and lab maintenance within the School of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Pathobiological Sciences. This position involves editing and updating instructional materials, analyzing and troubleshooting learning technologies, supporting faculty development programs, and providing training on learning technology tools. Additionally, the role assists in the design and development of multimedia learning materials and engaging learning experiences, both face-to-face and online. The specialist will also support data collection and interpretation for instructional program needs, maintain classroom microscopes and lab spaces, and manage inventory for student labs, including various biological samples. The anticipated salary for this position is $60,000 - $75,000, with the final salary dependent on experience and qualifications.

Requirements

  • Certified Veterinary Technician or Bachelor's Degree in Biological/Animal Sciences required.

Responsibilities

  • Completes initial edits, reviews, and updates of existing instructional materials (15%)
  • Analyzes, tests, troubleshoots, resolves issues, and provides feedback regarding learning technologies (5%)
  • Provides support for faculty development and engagement programs and activities (5%)
  • Provides consultation, training, and/or support for learning technology tools and platforms (10%)
  • Assists with the design and development of multimedia learning materials (0%)
  • Assists with providing basic training and technical support to learners in settings such as classrooms, labs, clinics, and distance learning mediums (10%)
  • Provides support for collecting, organizing, interpreting, and disseminating data to identify instructional program needs and enhance effectiveness (5%)
  • Classroom microscope maintenance and care (5%)
  • Maintain lab spaces at both the School of Veterinary Medicine and offsite facilities, including ensuring that supplies and spaces are in date, inventoried, and clean (5%)
  • Contributes to researching, designing, and/or acquiring learning resources, technologies, materials, and/or processes to support learning (15%)
  • Assists with the design and development of engaging, effective learning experiences which may be face-to-face, blended, and/or online (20%)
  • Assist in inventory, procurement, management and disposal of fixed and fresh samples for student labs and active learning sessions. (May include cadavers, body tissues, and specimens such as animal feces, parasites, bacteria, fungi, blood, urine) (5%)
