About The Position

The Department of Speech & Hearing Sciences at the University of New Mexico invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow to begin in August 2026. This is a part-time (.5 FTE) position with specialization in developmental disabilities and clinical supervision. The department serves a diverse and medically complex population across New Mexico and supports both clinical excellence and impactful research addressing hearing loss across the lifespan. This position is designed to expand research and clinical support which are currently limited by staffing capacity. The Postdoctoral Fellow will engage in mentored and independent research, contribute to clinical services, and participate in teaching and scholarly activities consistent with departmental needs and licensure status. The successful candidate will develop a focused line of research related to developmental disabilities, while collaborating with faculty investigators and clinical partners.

Requirements

  • PHD in discipline by the start date of appointment
  • Eligibility for Speech-Language Pathology clinical licensure in the state of New Mexico

Responsibilities

  • Develop and conduct independent and collaborative research in communication sciences and disorders, with emphasis on developmental disabilities
  • Prepare manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and oral presentations for publication and professional conferences
  • Participate in grant development and scholarly activities as appropriate
  • Support the development and delivery of clinical speech and language services, consistent with licensure eligibility
  • Assist with IRB submissions, regulatory documentation, and research compliance
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including researchers, clinicians, and trainees
  • Participate in departmental research meetings, seminars, and educational activities
  • Engage in teaching and mentoring activities as assigned
