About The Position

The Latino Research Institute (LRI) at UT Austin seeks a postdoctoral research fellow in the area of public policy. The ideal candidate will have a track record in both academic and public-facing publications, as well as research experience in one of the following policy areas: health, criminal justice, public and higher education, or energy. Candidate should hold a PhD in a field such as Political Science, Public Policy, Criminology, Economics, Latino Studies, Sociology, Education, Public Health, Social Work, or Communication.

Requirements

  • All requirements for the PhD completed by August 15, 2026, but PhD completed no more than three years prior to the start date.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct primary and secondary source research; prepare academic journal articles, policy briefs, white papers, and/or op-eds for public outlets.
  • Meet regularly with supervisor and research team; participate in the intellectual life of the Institutes.

Benefits

  • The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
