About The Position

The College App Classroom Instructional Fellow is responsible for logistical support of Heights’ and the University of Pennsylvania’s Undergraduate Admissions’ college access course, College App Classroom. The Instructional Fellow supports all administration and logistics for the program’s ten schools, including scheduling, grading, and record-keeping. They are also responsible for coordinating communications between schools, program teachers, students, and the program manager.

Requirements

  • Current graduate student
  • At least one year of experience working with youth and understanding of trauma informed teaching practices required
  • Familiar with topics in college access and financial aid
  • Strong project management skills
  • Skilled in creating and maintaining detailed record-keeping systems
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly with a variety of audiences
  • Able to navigate Heights’ data and reporting systems
  • Able to use rubrics to clearly and decisively evaluate student work
  • Able to deliver student materials to schools across Philadelphia
  • Must meet expectations to report in-person on a schedule determined by their direct manager and/or the Vice President of the team.
  • Must meet PA State background check requirements [PA Criminal, PA Child Abuse and FBI Fingerprint Check] at hire and every five years thereafter.
  • Strong orientation to customer service, particularly with regard to students, partners and colleagues
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office and related applications, as well as use of general office equipment (phones, computers, copiers, etc)
  • Fluency in the use of data and data systems. Maintains appropriate engagement with data entry, reporting and review.
  • Must be able to work in a busy, often complex work environment that is generally climate controlled.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds unassisted on an occasional basis.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
  • Access to reliable transportation required

Nice To Haves

  • experience with Salesforce or other CRM systems preferred

Responsibilities

  • Visiting sites and conducting observations, providing teachers with feedback based on established best practices
  • Email communications with students, teachers and other stakeholders
  • Substituting for teachers, when needed
  • Creating and maintaining College App Classroom Google Calendar
  • Developing record-keeping systems and managing data
  • Printing student materials and distributing materials to schools
  • Checking student assignments for completeness and tracking student assignment completion, when applicable
  • Other duties as assigned
