About The Position

Montgomery College is seeking a full-time Physical Therapy Assistant faculty member for its Takoma Park-Silver Spring campus, starting January 2027. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic professional dedicated to health science education, capable of motivating and engaging students. The Physical Therapist Assistant Program is accredited by CAPTE. This position is part of a collective bargaining unit. The successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to student success, thrive in a multicultural environment, support the community college mission, and possess strong communication skills. Faculty may teach in various formats including face-to-face, online, hybrid, and blended, across different campuses and potentially during evenings and weekends. Travel within the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area to clinical sites is required.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree
Active PT license or PTA license
Current Maryland license, in good standing, or eligibility to obtain a Maryland License.
Three (3) years full-time or equivalent post-licensure clinical experience in physical therapy practice in any United States jurisdiction.
Demonstrated excellence in classroom instruction using a variety of teaching methods.
Experience integrating technology into course delivery including the use of a learning management system (LMS).
Experience utilizing high-impact teaching pedagogies to foster student engagement and active learning.
Demonstrated commitment to inclusive and equitable teaching practices and support of a diverse student population.
Demonstrated effective collaboration with colleagues.
Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

Teach a variety of didactic, laboratory, and clinical courses within the Physical Therapy Assistant program.
Teach 30 semester hours per academic year.
Participate in accreditation activities and abide by accreditation guidelines and standards.
Participate in discipline-related activities such as program evaluation, curriculum design, and outcomes assessment and evaluation.
Provide support to the program and clinical coordinator as needed.
Travel within the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area to visit clinical sites affiliated with the program.
Serve on departmental, campus, and/or college committees.
Hold office hours.
Advise students.
Participate in course and program assessment.
Maintain an active personal program of professional development and continuous learning.
