About The Position

Montgomery College is seeking an outstanding Full-time Behavioral Health faculty member to fill a position beginning January 2027. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who exhibits a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to our students, and the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner. This position is part of a collective bargaining unit. The successful candidate will appreciate teaching in a multi-cultural environment and will welcome the opportunity to work with students with diverse learning abilities. Faculty duties include classroom, laboratory and clinical instruction, assessment, curriculum development, advising, professional inquiry, committee work, and utilizing instructional technology. Teaching assignments may include various delivery modes, such as face-to-face, online, hybrid, and/or blended formats during days, evenings, and weekends. Montgomery College has multiple campuses, and faculty may be assigned to teach in-person at any of these campuses and teach online.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Behavioral Health, Community Health or similar field
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in an academic environment.
  • Experience teaching asynchronous and/or Blended classes using Blackboard, Zoom or similar Learning Management System.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in instructional methodology, curriculum design, and program planning.
  • Demonstrated excellence in classroom instruction using a variety of teaching methods.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusive and equitable teaching practices and support of a diverse student population.
  • Experience integrating technology into course delivery including use of a Learning Management System.
  • Demonstrated effective collaboration with colleagues.
  • Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching a variety of college level Behavioral Health courses at the college level
  • Certified Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) instructor
  • Certified Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) nonviolent crisis intervention instructor
  • Experience with academic program advising
  • Experience supporting students through extracurricular activities or community outreach.
  • Evidence of commitment to professional development and scholarly activities.
  • Experience supporting students to overcome barriers to academic success.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a variety of courses within the Behavioral Health program.
  • Teach 30 semester hours per academic year. Opportunities may exist to teach summer classes.
  • Participate in discipline-related activities such as program evaluation, curriculum design, and outcomes assessment and evaluation.
  • Provide support to the program and coordinator as needed.
  • Serve on departmental, campus, and/or college committees.
  • Hold office hours.
  • Advise students.
  • Participate in course and program assessment.
  • Maintain an active personal program of professional development and continuous learning.
