About The Position

Achievers Early College Prep Charter School (AECP) is seeking dedicated teachers committed to curriculum and instruction improvement through collaboration. Teachers in this role will be experts in English Language Arts & Humanities content knowledge, with extensive knowledge of ELA interventions. They will design and implement curriculum and assessments, use data to refine instruction, and be receptive to coaching. Responsibilities include providing consistent rewards and/or consequences for student behavior, implementing techniques for student engagement, and being accountable for student mastery of academic standards. This role also involves significant work in teacher development, including conducting daily observations, modeling and practicing with teachers, planning and executing feedback meetings, providing real-time feedback, contributing to mid-year reviews, planning and delivering professional development, and planning and executing team meetings for content-area staff. The position will also co-teach or lead teach one section of ELA/Humanities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • 3+ years working in classrooms and coaching teachers, preferably in urban schools and/or communities, with a proven record of strong academic achievement
  • Adept interpersonal and communication skills with diverse audiences
  • Familiarity with Google Classroom and virtual meeting platforms
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleague
  • Valid NJ Teacher Certification in ELA
  • Expert in content knowledge in English Language Arts & Humanities
  • Extensive knowledge of English Language Arts interventions that specifically target ELA skills
  • Design and implement curriculum and assessments that measure progress towards academic standards
  • Use data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices
  • Receptive to coaching and committed to growing and strengthening
  • Provide consistent rewards and/or consequences for student behavior
  • Implement multiple techniques for increased student engagement and checking for understanding
  • Will be accountable for student's mastery of academic standards
  • Co-Teach or Lead teach one section of ELA/Humanities
  • Conduct daily observations, model and practice with teachers, plan/execute feedback meetings that lead to teacher development, and support implementation of action steps
  • Provide real-time feedback to teachers during instruction and contribute to teachers' mid-year reviews
  • Plan and deliver high-quality professional development that trains teachers in systems and key pedagogical issues
  • Plan and execute team meetings for content-area staff
