About The Position

The PSL&D Instructional Designer is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing innovative learning solutions that enable colleagues to build knowledge, skills, and capabilities required for success. This role is highly hands-on and execution-focused, partnering with subject matter experts, business partners, and learners to create engaging, learner-centric experiences across multiple delivery formats. The ideal candidate combines strong instructional design expertise with a passion for emerging technologies, modern learning practices, and creative problem-solving. They are comfortable moving from strategy discussions into development work and thrive in an environment where they can build, test, iterate, and continuously improve learning solutions. This is not a traditional instructional designer role. We are looking for someone who is excited by the future of learning and willing to challenge conventional approaches. The ideal candidate leverages AI, immersive technologies, interactive storytelling, simulations, gamification, and modern digital experiences to create learning that drives capability, behavior change, and business results. They don't just build courses, they design experiences that help people perform at their best.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Learning & Development, Education, Organizational Development, Human Performance Technology, Communications, or related field.
  • 3-5+ years of instructional design experience in a corporate, healthcare, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or regulated environment.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and developing: eLearning/Web-Based Training (WBT), Instructor-Led Training (ILT), Virtual Instructor-Led Training (VILT), On-the-Job Training (OJT), Learning assessments and performance support tools
  • Proficient with eLearning authoring and multimedia development tools.
  • Experience using instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles.
  • Strong project management, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Portfolio demonstrating learning solutions developed and learner engagement outcomes.
  • Candidates must be authorized to be employed in the U.S. by any employer.
  • U.S. work visa sponsorship (such as TN, O-1, H-1B, etc.) is not available for this role now or in the future.

  • Experience with AI-enabled learning design tools.
  • Experience with UX design.
  • Experience developing gamified learning experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop end-to-end learning experiences using adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
  • Create web-based training, eLearning modules, instructor-led training, classroom materials, structured on-the-job training programs, job aids, performance support tools, videos, and learning assessments.
  • Translate complex content into engaging, easy-to-understand learning experiences.
  • Develop measurable learning objectives and evaluation strategies that support business outcomes.
  • Apply user-centered design principles to improve learner engagement and retention.
  • Leverage emerging technologies including AI-enabled content development, adaptive learning, immersive learning, simulation-based learning, VR/AR, and gamification.
  • Explore and pilot innovative approaches that improve learning effectiveness and create memorable learner experiences.
  • Utilize learning analytics and learner feedback to continuously improve content and learning outcomes.
  • Stay current on industry trends and introduce new methods, tools, and technologies that enhance capability development.
  • Consult with SMEs to confirm learning needs, and desired business outcomes.
  • Facilitate content review with SMEs
  • Challenge assumptions and recommend the most effective learning solution, whether training, performance support, coaching, or workflow guidance.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and deadlines.
  • Build interactive eLearning using modern authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Rise, Captivate, Adapt, Vyond, Camtasia, or similar platforms.
  • Create multimedia learning assets including videos, animations, simulations, infographics, and digital job aids.
  • Utilize generative AI tools to accelerate content development, design visuals, generate assessments, create simulations, and improve learning personalization.
  • Design meaningful assessments and knowledge checks.
  • Analyze learning data and learner feedback to evaluate effectiveness.
  • Recommend enhancements based on performance data and learner experience insights.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts across the learning portfolio.
