About The Position

The Instructional Designer supports faculty and academic initiatives through instructional design consultation, faculty development, and the strategic use of instructional technologies. This position collaborates with faculty and college stakeholders to design, improve, and maintain high-quality learning experiences across instructional modalities, with an emphasis on accessibility, innovation, and effective teaching practices. The Instructional Designer develops and facilitates professional development programs, provides guidance on instructional technologies, and supports institutional initiatives related to teaching and learning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in instructional design, education, instructional technology, or related field.
  • 2 years of teaching experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong background in effective teaching and instructional design methodologies including writing objectives, lesson planning, developing curriculum, evaluation and assessment, Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and Open Educational Resources (OER).
  • Experience in integrating instructional technology into teaching and learning processes.
  • Experience with online or Web-supported learning through a Learning Management System.
  • Experience with designing and delivering presentations, workshops, and/or trainings.
  • Strong professionalism and confidentiality with all levels of staff.
  • Strong multi-tasking, organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with others.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in instructional design, education, instructional technology, or related field.
  • 5 or more years of teaching experience, including dual credit and/or college-level teaching experience.
  • Instructional staff experience at the collegiate or business professional/corporate level.
  • Canvas Learning Management Systems experience.
  • Creative Commons certification.

Responsibilities

  • Research, evaluate, and support the implementation of current and emerging trends in pedagogy, instructional technology, course design, delivery modalities, and educational innovation, including artificial intelligence.
  • Provide instructional design consultation, training, and support to faculty in course development, redesign, accessibility, instructional technology integration, and effective teaching practices across instructional modalities.
  • Design, develop, coordinate, and facilitate onboarding and ongoing professional development programs, workshops, courses, and resources for faculty and staff related to teaching, learning, instructional technology, and institutional priorities.
  • Develop and deliver Learning Management System (LMS) training and support for faculty, staff, and other college stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SME), Center for Teaching & Learning Excellence (TLE) team members, and campus partners to develop instructional materials, learning experiences, and faculty development resources using evidence-based instructional design principles, including Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
  • Review, evaluate, and remediate instructional materials and digital learning content to support accessibility compliance and inclusive design practices.
  • Support faculty adoption of instructional resources and technologies, including Open Educational Resources (OER), Zero Textbook Cost (ZTC) materials, and other instructional innovations.
  • Maintain communication related to faculty development opportunities, including responding to inquiries and developing promotional and informational materials.
  • Contribute to the Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence (TLE) operations, shared faculty support spaces, committees, workgroups, and institutional initiatives as assigned.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
