About The Position

The Instructional Designer II role focuses on supporting course design for online, hybrid, and blended learning environments. This position involves developing and implementing instructional design plans, collaborating with faculty to create clear learning objectives and assessments, and ensuring the development of high-quality courses. The role also includes assisting faculty with preparing for studio recordings, managing copyright and accessibility standards, and supporting faculty, TAs, and other staff with assessment and instructional tasks. Additionally, the Instructional Designer II will help faculty explore innovative uses of course management systems and other online teaching tools, and manage the quality assurance and review of courses. The position also entails developing informational resources and training sessions for faculty and TAs on course design and technology integration, consulting with faculty through various formats, and adhering to college design templates. Collaborative tasks include assisting with teaching reviews and evaluations, representing the College of Business on university committees, supporting online instruction with software and applications, and collaborating with other departments. Other technical and administrative tasks may be assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Masters degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for course design for online, hybrid, and blended courses.
  • Develop and implement instructional design plans and timelines in collaboration with faculty.
  • Assist faculty in writing clear learning objectives and assessments that align with those objectives.
  • Coordinate with production and program staff to ensure the development of high quality courses.
  • Assist faculty with preparing for studio recording: creating uniform PowerPoint slides, editing and creating templates for instructional materials, learning and implementing copyright and accessibility standards, etc.
  • Assist faculty, TAs and other staff with assessment and instructional tasks as requested. This includes building and testing exams and coordinating with online proctoring services.
  • Assist faculty in brainstorming and implementing innovative uses of the course management system features as well as other tools for teaching online.
  • Manage quality assurance and review of courses.
  • Assist with the development of informational resources, training sessions, and tutorials for faculty and TAs about course design and teaching with technology.
  • Consult with faculty through one-on-one meetings, group sessions, workshops, and informational sessions to integrate technology into teaching.
  • Follow guidelines established by college design templates for the course management system.
  • Assist with teaching reviews and evaluations.
  • Represent the College of Business on university committees as needed.
  • Support online instruction with miscellaneous new and existing instructional software and applications.
  • Collaborate with other college and university departments as needed.
  • Perform other technical and administrative tasks as determined by supervisor.
