About The Position

Clinical Informatics oversees training and workflow development for the Epic electronic health record. This includes providing training and support for new employees as well as ongoing support for all Epic users. Instructional Designers are experienced educational training professionals who know how to apply adult learning behavior theory and put it into practice with in-depth understanding of the professional field. They work with subject matter experts to learn workflows and apply instructional design methodology to the development of training materials for Epic system upgrades and optimizations. Clinical Informaticists apply their clinical training and experience to evaluate and improve workflows for clinical users of Epic. This includes proposing and overseeing system optimizations, collaborating with system analysts, and working with Instructional Designers on the development of training materials as needed. Clinical Informaticists round with users to observe workflows and provide at-the-elbow support as needed. Job Summary: The Instructional Designer I is an experienced educational training professional who knows how to apply adult learning behavior theory and put it into practice with in-depth understanding of the professional field. They can independently perform the full range of responsibilities within the function, possess broad job knowledge, analyze problems / issues of diverse scope, and determine solutions. This position is involved in designing, developing, and conducting health information systems training for clinical and non-clinical end-users in alignment with the organizational strategic plan, regulatory requirements, and clinical outcomes. Under general supervision, the Instructional Designer I will:

Requirements

  • College Degree - 4 year In education, or related area from an accredited college or university (required)
  • EPIC Certification 1 - EPIC Epic Principal Trainer Certification within 90 days of hire or transfer into position (required)
  • Minimum two (2) years Experience in healthcare or related training (required)
  • Minimum one (1) year Experience in Epic or other EMR (required)
  • Experience working with senior management, physicians and all levels of staff.
  • Strong customer service orientation and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)

Nice To Haves

  • Masters Degree In education, or related area from an accredited college or university (preferred)
  • Project management experience preferred.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS), preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop educational materials for clinical and non-clinical Epic users
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and instructors to design effective learning experiences
  • Use instructional technology to create interactive and engaging content
  • Conduct research and evaluation to measure the effectiveness of instructional materials
  • Ensure that educational materials meet curriculum standards and learning objectives
  • Create assessments and activities to test knowledge and understanding
  • Use feedback to continually improve educational materials
  • Train educators on how to effectively use instructional materials
  • Stay current with trends and best practices in instructional design and education
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues and stakeholders
