About The Position

The Center for Technical Assistance for Excellence in Special Education (TAESE) at the Institute for Disability Research, Policy, and Practice at Utah State University is seeking an Instructional Designer I to support the development and delivery of engaging learning and event experiences. The Instructional Designer will plan, design, and implement specialized multimedia instructional products. They will also play a key role in assisting with conference and event coordination. Additionally, this position will design and produce high-quality graphics to support conferences, events, and professional development activities. For over 40 years, TAESE's mission has been to improve results for infants, toddlers, children, and youth with disabilities by working in partnership with and increasing effectiveness of state and local special education agencies. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent of education plus experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, and implement specialized multimedia instructional products.
  • Under the direction of the lead TAESE Technical Assistance Specialist, assist with the planning, designing, and implementation of specialized multimedia instructional products.
  • Create and maintain asynchronous modules to deliver professional learning content to diverse audiences.
  • Provide instructional design consultation to TAESE Technical Assistance Specialists on multimedia content for professional learning activities, including instructional design support for synchronous, virtual professional learning events.
  • Perform virtual facilitation duties such as monitoring the chat box, assisting meeting participants with accessing materials, resolving audio/visual problems, etc., to ensure adherence to instructional design and digital accessibility standards.
  • Build and maintain websites and mobile apps for professional learning events to client specifications, including implementing appropriate branding.
  • Coordinate conference, event, and asynchronous professional learning evaluations, including the preparation of after event evaluation reports to be sent to clients.
  • Provide technical support to TAESE staff and clients on software used for multimedia instruction.
  • Edit instructional recordings and videos.
  • Collect content and create a quarterly TAESE Connections Newsletter to be distributed digitally and housed on the website.
  • Ensure all multimedia instructional products are produced in compliance with ADA and IDEA digital accessibility standards.
  • Assist with conference and event coordination and implementation.
  • Under the direction of the lead TAESE Event Coordinator, assist with the coordination, planning, and implementation of TAESE conferences and other events.
  • Negotiate and establish venue contracts for events, as needed.
  • Travel to conference locations and manage onsite conference details, as needed.
  • Manage participant email communications (invitations, confirmations).
  • Design graphics as needed for TAESE projects and conferences.
  • Organize graphics to meet all University, State contract, and Federal requirements.
  • Compile and request bids from printing companies for outside printing jobs, then negotiate and work with them to produce finished products.
  • Provide printing and materials support for all in person conferences and training events, including printing name tags and conference signage.
  • Ensure all production work meets deadlines and work is prioritized appropriately.
  • Assume quality control responsibilities for documents, packets, and printed materials with a focus on the oversight of formatting and design work produced by support staff.
  • Ensure printed materials meet instructional and accessibility standards.
  • Continually upgrade skills and stay updated on new techniques in design.
  • Provide office leadership and support for TAESE branding.
  • Ensure all outgoing materials go through the TAESE proofing process.
  • Collate, copy, ship, and provide quality assurance for outgoing materials.
  • Meet deadlines and prioritize work appropriately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
