About The Position

The Instructional Design and Digital Learning Specialist advances UNLV’s Lifelong Learning initiatives by leading the design and development of innovative learning experiences that serve diverse audiences, including noncredit, workforce aligned professional development, corporate and contract training, enrichment education, and continuing education learners. The position applies principles of instructional design and user experience to ensure that learning opportunities are accessible, engaging, and outcomes-driven. The Instructional Design and Digital Learning Specialist collaborates with local organizations, industry partners, subject matter experts (SMEs), faculty, and private-sector stakeholders, as well as the Executive Director of Lifelong Learning and members of both the Lifelong Learning and UNLV Online teams, to design courses, certificates, microcredentials, and related learning resources. The position applies data-informed and research-based design strategies to enhance learner engagement, workforce relevance, and program impact across diverse lifelong learning audiences. Working closely with partners across UNLV Online and other university units, this position ensures alignment between project goals, workforce needs, institutional standards, and UNLV’s mission to support learning for life.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
  • 3-5 years of experience in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology or related comparable, professional experience.
  • Knowledge in Instructional Design and learning theories, approaches, and practices, including the ability to remain current within the discipline.
  • Experience building courses in a learning management system in a higher education setting.
  • Instructional design skills that effectively use various technologies and practices in the online experience.
  • Teaching or training in a higher education setting.
  • Using appropriate educational technology to enhance teaching and learning in online courses.
  • Maintaining a growth mindset experience.
  • Ability to analyze feedback from summative evaluation of OE classes and develop strategies for faculty to use to improve student outcomes.
  • Ability to work as a member of a cooperative team of professionals.

Nice To Haves
