About The Position

Per Scholas seeks a dynamic, team-oriented individual to serve as an Instructional Associate. The Instructional Associate will play an essential role in our organization’s mission as he/she trains Per Scholas learners to be outstanding entry and mid-level technicians. The role involves classroom facilitation using a structured curriculum, assisting the Technical Instructor in conducting technical training, and supporting learners in areas such as hardware, software, networking, security, server, mobility, virtualization, cyber security, web development, quality assurance, and project management. The position requires a hands-on, interactive teaching style, leading study groups, preparing review materials, and ensuring all equipment is managed. The Instructional Assistant will also utilize an in-house Learning Management System for assignments, tests, performance monitoring, and data entry. Additionally, the role involves managing learner performance by providing feedback, identifying challenges, implementing study plans, enforcing program policies, and participating in progress meetings. Administrative duties include participating in staff meetings and conducting real-time learner data entry in Salesforce and/or Canvas.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Technical Instructor in conducting technical training to prepare learners for entry to mid-level Information Technology jobs.
  • Facilitate classroom sessions using a structured and approved curriculum, employing a highly interactive, hands-on style.
  • Consult with the Instructor before providing learners with review materials, videos, or other support.
  • Form and lead study groups using the instructor's evaluations, with topics determined by the instructor and learners.
  • Consult with the instructor to determine activities for present and upcoming days and assist in gathering necessary tools for lectures and labs.
  • Be prepared to conduct a lesson if the instructor needs to be out of the classroom (for a limited duration).
  • Ensure all equipment loaned to or used by learners is returned properly.
  • Utilize an in-house Learning Management System for assignments, tests, real-time performance monitoring, and assisting in entering learner attendance/grades/scorecards.
  • Provide learners with ongoing feedback, recognize challenges early, and work with the instructor and/or coaches to overcome them.
  • Coordinate closely with learners’ instructors and career coaches on enforcing program rules and promoting learner success.
  • Implement individualized study plans for learners who are struggling.
  • Participate in all required learner progress meetings.
  • Monitor and enforce learner class attendance, dress code, and other program policies.
  • Participate in staff meetings.
  • Conduct real-time learner data entry in Salesforce and/or Canvas.
