About The Position

Christel House Indianapolis is seeking a full-time Instructional Assistant at DORS Central. Christel House DORS supports adults of all ages as they work toward an Indiana Core 40 high school diploma, while also providing resources and support for personal development and academic success. The role supports instruction and helps maintain a safe, positive learning environment.

The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The position has 202 days of service, dependent on the start date; 202 days is the maximum for the academic year.

Requirements

• Two years of college with some training or exposure to education, or network equivalent.
• Ability and willingness to work collaboratively and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Competency in using technology.
• Ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
• Agreement with the mission statement and goals of Christel House Schools.
• Submit a letter of interest explaining why the candidate’s qualifications are a good match.
• Submit a current resume that includes an email address.
• Provide at least three professional references, including the candidate’s current and most recent prior supervisor, or student teaching supervisors.
• Disclose any criminal arrests or convictions during the application process; a successful applicant must submit to a national background check.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with assignments that reinforce learning concepts.
• Monitor individual students and/or groups to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
• Maintain records of interventions and progress monitoring.
• Provide reteaching and tutoring sessions related to core instruction delivered by the classroom teacher.
• Implement instructional programs and lesson plans under the teacher’s supervision to present and/or reinforce learning concepts.
• Attend meetings and in-service presentations to acquire and/or convey information related to job functions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
