About The Position

American Academy has an opening for a part-time Instructional Assistant at its Motsenbocker campus in Parker, Colorado. The Instructional Assistant reports to the Office Manager and assists teachers with administrative tasks, as well as supporting carpool, lunch, and recess activities. The role includes classroom teacher support, lunchroom and/or carpool duties, and contributing positively to the school environment. The Instructional Assistant is expected to uphold the school’s mission, philosophy, and Character & Manners program, and to demonstrate professionalism, initiative, integrity, and positive relationships with colleagues.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent.
Minimum job-related experience.
Experience in an educational environment is preferred.
Office and computer skills, including copier use and troubleshooting, word processing and spreadsheets in Microsoft Office, and email in Outlook.

Nice To Haves

Associate’s and/or bachelor’s degree.
CPR/First-Aid certification.
Experience in an educational environment.

Responsibilities

Complete daily tasks assigned by teachers and assist with special projects.
Substitute for or oversee a class when needed.
Help ensure students’ safety during morning and afternoon carpool.
Monitor lunchroom behavior and serve as the main contact for students in the lunchroom.
Oversee students’ safety and respectful behavior on the playground.
Provide timely and clear communication, including responding to staff and parent emails within 48 hours.
Demonstrate initiative in personal achievements and team support.
Maintain integrity with respect to the organization’s hierarchy.
Demonstrate professionalism and positive relationships with colleagues.
