About The Position

The Instructional Assistant works under the supervision of a certificated teacher with individual students and small groups to support student supervision, instruction, and academic progress. The position also provides clerical support to teachers and staff. The posting lists multiple positions at Highland Park Elementary, each with a nine-month position length. The Instructional Assistant role is three hours per day at $15.38 per hour; the Paraprofessional Assistant - ELL role is two hours per day at $16.31 per hour and up, depending on experience, for a combined total of five hours per day. A Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card is required before processing and must be maintained while employed. The position is hourly, non-exempt, and follows the Support 9 Month work calendar.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Job-related experience is desired.
• Must possess a valid Arizona DPS Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card while employed.
• Must have a Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card prior to processing.

Responsibilities

• Assist individual students or small groups with lesson assignments and activities to reinforce learning concepts and support academic goals.
• Implement instructional programs and lesson plans to assist the teacher in improving students' academic success.
• Maintain classroom equipment, work areas, and student files or records, including copying instructional materials.
• Monitor students individually or in groups in settings such as classrooms, playgrounds, cafeterias, and libraries to provide a safe, positive learning environment.
• Perform general record-keeping and clerical functions to support teachers and provide necessary records and materials.
• Promote good habits to improve student outcomes and encourage student development.
• Assist other personnel as required to support completion of their work activities.
• Attend meetings and in-service presentations to acquire or convey information related to job functions.
