The Charlotte Lab School Instructional Assistant Teacher will have responsibilities in support of Charlotte Lab School’s instructional vision. This role involves planning and working with teachers in developing strategies for reinforcing skills, supporting students with specific academic, behavioral, or social needs, and assisting in the instruction of individual or groups of students as directed by the teacher. The assistant will also participate in transportation, lunch, recess, and student supervision duties. A key aspect of the role is to utilize communication systems for home-school collaboration, analyze data to inform decision making and instructional planning, and monitor student progress through mastery tracking and student learning portfolios. The position requires active participation in ongoing professional development and the Assistant Teacher evaluation process. The assistant will supervise students and maintain a clean, orderly, safe, print-rich, and positive classroom learning environment. Additionally, the role includes serving as an Advisor to a small group of students, delivering a social-emotional skills curriculum, advocating for advisees, and operating as a liaison between their families and the school. All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor must also be fulfilled.
