Part-Time Instructional Assistant(After School Program at Longbranch Elementary)
About The Position
The SAS Instructional Assistant provides quality care and educational support to school-age children in a safe, nurturing environment while following Learning Grove standards and state guidelines. The position is at Longbranch Elementary School in Union, Kentucky, and is part-time, Monday through Friday, approximately 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The assistant supports children’s learning and development through structured activities, creative experiences, positive interactions, and guidance. The role also includes maintaining an organized classroom, completing assigned tasks and documentation, following applicable requirements, and building positive relationships with families and staff.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, bend, move frequently, and remain active throughout the day.
Nice To Haves
- Some post-secondary education.
- Childcare experience.
Responsibilities
- Supervise children and ensure their safety at all times.
- Support learning through structured activities, creativity, and positive interactions.
- Implement lesson plans aligned with state learning standards.
- Maintain organized classrooms and complete assigned tasks and documentation.
- Use positive guidance techniques to support children’s development.
- Follow licensing, SUTQ/STARS, and Learning Grove requirements.
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality, and foster positive relationships with families and staff.
- Participate in required training and professional development.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
