About The Position
The Temporary Instructional Assistant will support Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Education at Volunteer State Community College. The role assists instructors in helping students improve their skills and achieve competencies, working with students individually and, when needed, in small groups or the full class setting to facilitate effective learning. This is a temporary, part-time position. Applications are accepted continuously and reviewed when openings become available; postings close yearly on October 31, and applicants must reapply each year to maintain an application in the system.
Requirements
- Currently hold a Tennessee EMT-Basic license with no history of revocation, denial, or suspension.
- Have at least one year of experience practicing in the pre-hospital environment in Tennessee.
- Document at least 75 hours of EMS instruction acceptable to the Board.
- Have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Be proficient in instructional technology.
- Be proficient in the subject matter.
Responsibilities
- Assist students in navigating online learning environments.
- Provide one-on-one instruction to students.
- Assist faculty in helping students understand and respond to coursework.
- Coordinate daily instructional strategy with faculty before class begins.
- Assist faculty in developing and maintaining student learning plans.
- Assist faculty in reviewing and grading student work as needed.
- Assist faculty in contacting students with excessive absences.
- Organize and oversee peer-group lessons as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
